All work and SOME play!

My first ever weekend out of my 11-year Engineering career turned out to be stellar, stellar weather! Woohoo! Monday morning was the nicest day of the year so far, sunny and 21C. I felt sorry for my poor ex-coworkers and clients stuck in the office grind.

In the afternoon Saxony and I drove down to the community of Edison at the geographical start of the Skagit Valley and we treated ourselves to a lovely (and scary!) hike and fly. We parked the Jeep at the landing zone and it took us about 1h15 mins to hike to the Blanchard launch. The weather was perfect! Wind was cross on launch and this resulted in some scary moments as we got airborne but in the end, all was good. All this boat work and not enough paragliding is making me rusty. Landed by the Jeep and enjoyed a cold brew in the beautiful afternoon glow! This is why we are doing all this, soon enough we will be free to play for an entire summer!

Saxony feeling the wind. Could you ask for a more stellar launch?

  1. This is awesome!! You guys packing a paraglider into the quarterberth?? I think you could get some pretty awesome aerial shots of Leela at anchor 😉

You bet! We will pack the tandem paraglider under the v-berth and hope to fly at alt Spring in later June. After that may leave the wing in Vancouver as there will be little if any chances to fly as we head North. (though I may sneak my solo wing just in case 😉
